  2. My Life I am proud of my family and my extended family. I have four daughters Not other family members in the US. Have very good friends that are like family. I am a natural born teacher. I love learning and teaching. I love reading aloud.

  3. My Story I am a family oriented person I am a Christian

  4. Early Life • I was born in Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. • I lived there for 25 years.

  5. Studies in Social Work After finishing Middle School, I Attended a vocational school And study Social Work. I have a Certificate of Professional Technician in Social Work from the Centro de Estudios Tecnológicos Industrial y de Servicios No. 41 in Acapulco México.

  6. Internship at CIJ • I did my internship at Centros de Integracion Juvenil Acapulco • While working at CIJ, I visited elementary, middle and High Schools to talk to parents, teachers and students about drug addictions and how to prevent it. • Centros de Integración Juvenil, A.C. (CIJ) makes programs and projects of prevention, treatment, social reintegration, research and human resources development in the field of addictions for almost 42 years. • Centros de Integración Juvenil, A.C., with more than 40 years of experience in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and scientific research on drug use, has a network of 114 prevention and treatment centers in Mexico.

  10. Then we moved to Eagle Pass in 1995Elizabeth and Cassandra were born in Eagle Pass, TX

  11. In 1999 we moved to San AntonioCarla and Alejandra were born in San Antonio.From my perspective, San Antonio has too many highways…

  12. CitizenshipI became US Citizen in March 21, 2002

  13. Passed the US Citizenship test when I didn’t speak EnglishI embraced my new citizenship with love and responsibility.

  14. I got divorced in October 2002and I started my education in the US the same year.

  15. I attended ESL and GED courses at NISD

  16. I took my studies very seriously.When my kids were at school, I was also at school.

  18. My Younger Sister Rosy is also an educator, she has master’s degree in Reading and lives and work in Acapulco. She is teaching 4th grade in an Elementary.

  19. The Park and Outdoors I love taking my daughters to the park and enjoy reading for pleasure.

  22. Cassandra She is an artist. She enjoys drawing and writing.

  23. Carla Carla is very active and smart. She likes socializing and makes good grades. She is wearing her Dual Language’s t-shirts!

  25. Kitchen I enjoy cooking for my family when I am not under presure.

Teaching philosophy • Student centered • Bilingual Program: Dual Language, the most successful bilingual program. • Vygotsky : Psycology of play, Social Constructivism, Zone of Proximal development, • I am very enthusiastic about literacy development, diagnosis, and strategies used to aid in literacy learning for students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. I am a participant of the Academy for Teachers Excellence since obtaining my teaching certificate. • Important to know and understand students’ cultural background. In 2011, I was awarded The Bilingual Teacher of the Year from ATE, in recognition of outstanding growth and achievement in culturally efficacious teaching practices.
