What is Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) ? • Centralize the storage and execution of a desktop workload (OS, apps, data) on a virtual machine in the datacenter • Presentation of the UI via a remote desktop protocol (such as RDP or ICA) to client devices Desktop Workload (OS, Apps, Data) 10

Limitations of VDI • Multi-tier Deployment architecture requires sophisticated IT • “Always on” network connection required to access desktops No network access means no access to desktop, and hence unsuitable for offline mobile use.
