Why? • Britain felt that Germany was persecuted by the terms of treaty of Versailles. • Nevile Henderson, the British ambassador in Berlin said “ I believed there was no possibility of stability either in Germany or Europe generally, until the grievances arising out of Versailles… which had created Hitler, had been corrected” • How useful is this quote in showing how Britain felt about the treaty and what it has done.

  3. What happened • Birtian was willing to appease Germany for some things. • They were aloud to build an army to defend itself but there was a cap on the size of the army. • Germany was also able to rearm the Rhineland.
