Operation of a chain pulley block

A chain pulley block, also known as a chain hoist or chain block, is a mechanical device used to lift and lower heavy loads in various industrial applications. It consists of a sturdy housing or frame that contains a system of gears, chains, and a lifting hook. The primary purpose of a chain pulley block is to provide a mechanical advantage, allowing users to lift or move heavy objects with relatively less effort.

  1. OPERATION OF A CHAIN PULLEY BLOCK HOUSING/FRAME The housing or frame is a robust structure that encloses the internal components of the chain pulley block. It provides support and stability during lifting operations. LOAD CHAIN The load chain is a series of interconnected links made of high- strength alloy steel. It is designed to withstand heavy loads and provide durability. PULLEY SYSTEM The load chain runs over these sheaves, allowing it to change direction and provide a mechanical advantage by multiplying the force applied by the operator. LIFTING HOOK The lifting hook is attached to the end of the load chain. It is designed to securely hold the load being lifted. The hook may have additional safety features like a latch. HAND CHAIN The hand chain is a manual control mechanism used to operate the chain pulley block. It is a looped chain that is pulled by the operator to lift or lower the load.
