  3. Your child can’t read? Can’t do math? Well, maybe he or she has been spending too much time in school and not enough time watching television! Kids aren’t learning anything anyway, so they might as well be home watching television. Questions to determine tone… 1. What is the subject of the paragraph? The effects of kids watching too much tv. 2. Circle the words that give clues about the author’s attitude toward the subject. 3. What is the tone? SARCASTIC

  4. What is the MOOD of the song? • How did you come to that conclusion? Cite specific words/phrases that create the MOOD. THIS IS AN OGT SKILL!!!

  5. What is the topic/subject of the piece? • What is the author’s attitude (tone) toward the topic/subject? • Cite specific words/phrases to support your answer. THIS IS AN OGT SKILL!!!
