  12. Internet dissemination: Serving and publishing data / Contact with users • What is Infoine? • Infoine is not merely an e-mail address. • Infoine is much more than that. It is a form designed to help our website users obtain the information they need. • It is an in-house Java application together with an Oracle database. • This form can be accessed from any webpage at www.ine.es 12

  13. Internet dissemination: Serving and publishing data / Contact with users • Infoine: Advantages over e-mail contact • Avoid SPAM • Robots or spiders can’t fill in the form • Only interested users fill in the form • The management of the information is much easier and faster • 30 Querys instead of hundreds of e-mails a day • Less resources needed • We’ll work on the information we have got from the requests, • and…after that job we’ll know much more about our visitors 13

  14. Infoine: Three fields of the form are compulsory Data Protection Agency control Users want to know, not to tell Internet dissemination: Serving and publishing data / Contact with users Internet dissemination: contact with users 14

  15. This is a correctly filled in form. When a user sends it, a register is added to our database. With our analysis tool, we can obtain several reports. Let’s see an example Graphs by topics demanded Tiempo de respuesta Respue 15

  16. Once logged in, this is what we can see Analysis tool: a JAVA application with internal restricted access An interface developed to search, count, list and make reports using the information about requests collected in our database An example… 16

  18. As a result of this selection we have the list with all the consultations (66) received and answered through Infoine from Germany, about Economy from March 2004 until today 18

  19. Hidden for personal data protection reason Another example with Germany and Education 19

  24. Is all this worth the effort? 24

  25. Internet dissemination: Serving and publishing data / Contact with users Is all this worth the effort? At the end of the day we can look at the results of our job and the answer to that question must be a clear ‘Yes, of course’ Because the dissemination of statistics on the Internet is on the rise And … to support this, let’s see some data 25
