  1. By Casj and Macs How does Temperature affect glow sticks.

  2. Research: • Glow sticks only last certain amount of time in room temperature. It has been said that glow sticks glow brighter when heated.

  3. Problem: • How does temperature affect a glue stick? • We chose this because we wanted to see what would happen to glow sticks in different temperatures.

  4. Hypothesis: • We think that glow sticks will glow brighter in hotter temperatures and that they will last longer in colder temperatures, but be dimmer in cold temperature and not last as long in hotter temperatures.

  5. Materials: • 12 glow sticks • Freezer • Fridge • Heated blanket • Note pad • Pencil/pen • Room temperature for control

  6. Experiment Procedures: First- buy 12 glow sticks. Second- place glow sticks in designated areas. Third- light up glow sticks in the areas. Fourth- wait a couple of hours then see what happens and write down results in notebook and compare to control.

  7. Results: • Heat: 1hr. Still bright. 2hr. Same. 3hr. Dim. 4hr. No glow. • Fridge: 1hr. Half glowing. 2hr. Less glow. 3hr. Same. 4hr. Same. • Freezer: 1hr. Dim. 2hr. Dimmer. 3hr. No glow. 4hr. Same. • Control: 1hr. Bright. 2hr. Not as bright. 3hr. Half dim. 4hr. Same.

  8. Conclusion: Our hypothesis was wrong, we thought the one in the heat would be the brightest, but the one in the fridge was the brightest when we took it out of the fridge.
