Initially, JUNET administrated registration of JP Domain Names. • INET Club • With Strong Support of KDD R&D Laboratory, InetClub was established on May 1987. InetClub took a role until the end of 1994. • WIDE Project • Establishment on 1988 • Widely Integrated Distributed Environment • Leading Internet Community of Japan as a Research Group

(2) Internet Resource, Security (JPNIC,JPRS, JPCERT/CC, etc.) • Administration of JP Domain, Operation of JP DNS and Allocation of IP Address • 1991: JNIC • 1993: JPNIC (JaPan Network Information Center) • 1997: JPNIC became corporation aggregate • 2000: JPRS (JaPan Registry Service ) established • Private Sector(Commercial Company) manages “.jp” . • Computer Security Incident Responses • 1996: JPCERT/CC (JaPan Computer Emergency Response Center) established. • 2003: JPCERT/CC became an independent non-profit organization.

At First N+I Tokyo(held on July 2004), inaugural preparatory issue(with CD-ROM, charge free) pass out. • Major Newspapers started WWW sites • asahi.com (1995: http://www.asahi.com/ ) • NIKKEI NET(1996: http://www.nikkei.co.jp/) • Web and Mail Magazine as advertising media
