Class of 2016 Graduation Requirements • 4 Credits English • 4 Credits Mathematics including Algebra I and Geometry • 3 credits Science including Biology 1; 2 credits must have laboratory component • 3 credits Social Studies-World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government and Economics • 1 credit in Fine or Performing Arts • 1 credit HOPE • 7.5 credits electives • One virtual course credit • Minimum graduation credit requirement is 24

Additional Requirements • Students must pass Grade 10 FCAT Reading or earn concordant ACT/SAT test score. • Students must pass Algebra 1 End of Course Exam or earn concordant PERT test score • Grade Point Average must be at least 2.0(unweighted State GPA) • Two years of JROTC can substitute for HOPE and Performing/Fine Arts

Next Steps • Keep a record of all grades including tests, homework, papers, etc. in all classes. • Continue extra curricular activities. • Maintain strong academic performance and an excellent attendance record. • Attend NACAC College Fair in January. • Talk with parents about college needs, interests, etc. • Take School Day SAT-February 25th. • Register for SAT-June administration. • Meet with counselor to discuss college needs, interests etc. • List college choices with counselor. • Schedule interviews and college visits for Spring, Summer and/or Fall. • Continue to explore career options.

Tips for Parents • Understand that it’s a Process • Be realistic and non-judgmental • Don’t compare your child with classmates • Encourage your child to do the work – be in the ‘back seat’ and not the ‘driver’ • Be open to dialogue and responsive to questions • Help your child keep deadlines • Help your child initiate contact with colleges, gap year programs, military offices, and career opportunities
