  2. What is Accelerated Reader? • AR provides educators timely, accurate information on student academic performance. You can use this information to quickly adjust instruction to help all of your students reach their greatest potential. • Accelerated Reader helps teachers reach all types of readers with Reading Practice, Vocabulary Practice, Literacy Skills, and Other Reading Quizzes. Recorded Voice Quizzes are also available for emergent readers. • AR quizzes cover all levels of reading ability in both English and Spanish.

  3. How Do I Log into RenPlace If you are at school, click on the AR/Star logo If you are accessing from the Internet • https://hosted137.renlearn.com/115947 Enter your username and password

  4. How Do I Set Up My Class? • 1. Under User Type – Choose School User and click Set. • 2. Click Courses and Classes under Renaissance Place tasks. • 3. If there is a school drop down menu, select the school from the drop-down list and click Set. • 4. Click DataApplications for Paulding Schools or DesktopAppCourse for Oakwood Elementary School . • 5. Find your class or add a class if you are not listed • If you need to add a class, click Add Class on the View Course page, enter the information, and click Save. • 6. To assign the teacher to the class, on the View Class page, click Edit Class Personnel, search for the teacher, check the box next to the teacher, and click Assign. Then, check the box for each program that the teacher and class will be using so the program recognizes the class, and choose the teacher’s role (Teacher – Lead) for each program. Click Save.

  5. How Do I Add Students to My Class? (Beginning of the year) • Click Courses and Classes under Renaissance Place tasks. • Select the school from the drop-down list and click Set. • Click DataApplications for Paulding Schools or DesktopAppCourse for Oakwood Elementary School . • Find your class and click on your name. • Click Edit Class Enrollment. Search for the students. You may enter all or part of the student’s name. If you are enrolling a list of students from the same grade level, enter the grade and choose from the list. Check the box next to the students and click Add. When you’ve added all the students, click Save

  6. How Do I Add a New Student? • Click on Personnel, Students, Parents • Click on Add Student • Type in Required Fields • Click on SAVE

  7. How Do I Print a Report with Students’ Usernames & Passwords? • Click on Accelerated Reader or Star Early Literacy • Click on Reports • Under Report Category choose School Management • Under School Management, click on Student Information • Select your class from the drop down • Click on View Report

  8. How Do I Change a Student’s Password? • Click on Personnel, Students, Parents • Click on View Students • Search for students or choose the entire grade level • Select Student • Click on Edit Student Personal Info. • Change Password and Confirm Password • Click on SAVE

  9. How Do I Locate AR Reading Practice Test? • Click on Manage Quizzes • Click on Reading Practice under Quiz Type • Choose a Book Title. Click on Select • Click on Take a Sample Quiz (under Quiz Task Menu)

  10. How Do I Take a Sample Reading Practice Test? • Click on Manage Quizzes under the Accelerated Reader tab • Click on Reading Practice • Enter the title • Click Select to the right of the title • Click Take a Sample Quiz link on the left of the screen

  11. How Do I Delete a Test from the Student’s Record? • Click on Accelerated Reader • Click on Class Record Books • Click on Reading Practice Quizzes • Click on the student that needs a test deleted • Look for the book title to be deleted • Under Actions, click on Delete

  12. How Do I Locate AR Vocabulary Tests? • Provides a vocabulary list, pronunciation, and definition for words in any AR book • Click on Manage Quizzes under Accelerated Reader • Click on Vocabulary Practice under Quiz Type • Click on a Book Title. Click on Select • Click on Preview Vocabulary ListReport This gives the word, grade level, pronunciation, and definition

How Do I Locate AR Literacy Skills? • Click on Manage Quizzes • Click on Literacy Skills under Quiz Type • Choose a book title. • Click on Select • Quiz Task Menu: • Edit Selected Quiz Information • Take a Sample Quiz • View Literacy Skills Quiz Questions (Question, answer, and skill/standard) • View Teacher’s Guide ( Book Information, Main Characters, Vocabulary, Synopsis, Open-ended questions, teachable skills)

  14. How do I Print a Student Summary Sheet? • Under STAR Reading or Early Literacy, click on Reports. • There are four (4) choices of reports under Frequently Used Reports. • Diagnostic-shows student results from STAR Reading Test with detailed information on how to interpret the scores • Growth-shows student growth from each test • Summary-shows specific test results for the entire class • Test Record-similar to the Growth Report, but more individual • Choose your class and customize the report to meet your needs. • Click on View Report.

  15. How Do I Print a Parent Letter?(Useful for Parent/Teacher Conferences) • Under Star Early Literacy or Star Reading, click on Reports • Choose Parent-English from Other Reports • Under Customization Options, click on Individual Students or Choose your class • Click on View Report and then print

  16. Definitions for Parents • Click on Star Reading or Star Early Literacy • Click on Reports • Click on Score Definition (This provides a brief explanation of test scores)

  17. How Do I Add Parent Access? • Choose Personnel, Students, and Parents • Scroll down the left side and choose Add Parent • Add Parent information • Click SAVE

  18. How Do I Set Goals for My Class? • Under Accelerated Reader click Class Record Books • If there are choices at the top of the page, choose your school and click Set then your teacher name and click Set. • Click on Reading Practice Quizzes • Click on Goals from the left side of the screen. • Click on the students name and click Create • Fill in the goals you are setting for the student. • Click Save
