  3. Academic Affairs • Benchmarked Alabama A&M University with Peer 1890 Universities. • Prepared for successful visit of SACS Special Committee. • Fall enrollment increased by 203 to 5,327 students.

  4. Business and Finance Developed budget which addressed funding reductions and SACS criteria for Core Requirement 2.11.1.

  5. Institutional Advancement External funding from alumni and private sources in the amount of $424,663.59 was reported.

  6. Institutional Research, Planning and Sponsored Programs Sponsored grants and contracts in the amount of $32,041,684 was reported.

Student Affairs • Assisted students on “move-in” day • Addressed incoming SOAR students • Participated in orientation of the University’s Student Ambassadors, the ECHOES • Hosted University Queen/Court and SGA President in President’s Skybox • Addressed the Changing Lane Mentoring Program • Frequent the student dining hall and eat lunch with students at least twice each month • Periodically ride the shuttle bus with students • Participated in the SGA Executive Officers’ Installation

Student Affairs • Participated in two Bulldog Pride clean-up campaigns. • Participated in the Coronation of Miss Alabama A&M University. • Addressed the football team. • Participated in the forum for freshman men entitled “Real Deal on the Hill.” • Participated in the Freshman torch lighting program.

Forging Relationships: FACULTY & STAFF • Addressed the opening Faculty and Staff Conference. • Monthly meetings with Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate. • Periodic meetings with the Executive Committee of the Staff Senate. • Meetings with the presidents of the Faculty and Staff Senates; Deans and Department Chairs; Budget and Planning Council; University AAUP President, etc. • Conveyed condolences to University Faculty members who lost loved ones.

Drake State Technical College • Dr. Bob Glenn, Athens State University • Dr. William Harris, Alabama State University • Dr. Bill Meehan, Jacksonville State University • Dr. Melvin Johnson, Tennessee State University • Dr. Ann Roy Moore, Superintendent, Huntsville City Schools

Forging Relationships: ACADEME Participated in Key Activities and Meetings Impacting Higher Education in the State of Alabama: • Official launching of Knight Scholarship for Community College Transfer Students • Benchmarking of AAMU with five comparable 1890 institutions • Meetings with Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE); Dr. Mary Jane Caylor, Alabama State Board of Education; and Ken Wallis, Office of the Governor • Greeted Professional Development Inservice Consortium

  15. Forging Relationships: PUBLIC OFFICIALS • Met with the Hon. Bob Riley, Governor of Alabama; the Hon. Artur Davis, Congressman for District 7; the Hon. Parker Griffith, Congressman for District 5; Ms. LaFreda Jordan, Staff member for the Sen. Richard Shelby’s Huntsville Office; Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle; Commissioner Bob Harrison, Madison County; Dr. Richard Showers, Huntsville City Council; and State Rep. John Knight and Rep. Laura Hall. • Hosted the Madison County Delegation in Montgomery, Alabama during the Special Session. The meeting was attended by Rep. Mike Ball, Rep. Randy Hinshaw, Rep. Mac McCutcheon, Rep. Laura Hall, and AAMU Board of Trustees members Robert Avery, James Montgomery, D. Thomason Bell and Lucien Blankenship • Met with Admiral Clyde Marsh, Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Alabama.

Forging Relationships: LOYAL ALUMNI • Met with the President of the National Alumni Association, Mr. Robert Crenshaw. • Launched the 2010 One Thousand Give-A-Thousand Million Dollar Campaign • Hosted major donors during football games. • Presented resolution at the Memorial Services for Ms. Bertha Jones, a major contributor to the University. • Participated in the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction. • Speaker for Alumni Breakfast for the Greater Indianapolis Alumni Chapter.  • Served as judge, with the First Lady, for the Alumni Student Vocal Challenge Showcase. • Greeted alumni at the Alumni House and Welcome Center during Homecoming Weekend.

  17. Forging Relationships: COMMUNITY • Met with Mr. Curtis Clark, Deputy to the Commander, U.S. Army Garrison at Redstone; Toured the Redstone Arsenal. • Met Brian Hilson, Huntsville-Mad. Co. Chamber of Commerce • Met with Mr. Ronnie Chronister, Deputy to the Commanding General at U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), for General Miles at Redstone Arsenal. • Hosted General Patrick O’Reilly at AAMU during his presentation to students and provided a tour on the campus and research projects. • Attended the Business Council of Alabama Chairman’s Reception and Dinner in Birmingham where former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was the featured speaker.
