  3. Defining Trends The Gaza Strip Government Policy on allowing goods into the Gaza Strip continues; crossings are now able to absorb over 300 trucks a day. Hamas continues to act aggressively against Israel. In addition to Hamas’ own terrorist activities, the organization allows various terrorist groups to use the territory under its control to plan and carry out attacks and rocket launches. In the period of this report six rockets, including one ‘Grad’ rocket, and 4 mortars were launched from the Gaza Strip towards civilian areas in Israel. As a result of the attacks, one Israeli civilian was moderately injured and two suffered from shock. In addition, there were two instances in which suspicious Palestinians were arrested crossing or approaching the technical fence and multiple instances in which suspicious vessels were identified crossing into Israeli naval territory. Meanwhile, Hamas has sustained its efforts to acquire more weaponry through smuggling into the Gaza strip. The IAF acted in response to the rocket and mortar fire with pinpoint attacks targeting multiple smuggling tunnels intended for terrorism, two Hamas outposts, a Hamas ammunitions warehouse, a ‘PIJ’ ammunitions warehouse and a Hamas training camp.
