  4. MF Procurement MFProcurement • Five-year IDIQ contract with Gichner Shelter Systems for up to 1,000 units. Contract up for bid next FY. • Currently working with manufacturer on future product improvements • Lift Off Door Hinges • ECU Panel Latches • Pressure Relief Valve • Improved Corrosion Prevention • Butting Kits • ECU Fan Failures • R-134 ECU Phase Sensitivity

  9. Butting Kit Discrepancies • It has been reported that there were issues with butting kits obtained via the supply system not fitting in the door jambs properly • It was determined the vendor suppling the butting kits to the supply system was not rounding the corners of the butting kit frames as desired and drawing requirement could be misinterpreted • Discussions were held with the vendor and all butting kits shipped to the supply system since July 2009 have the corners of the frames properly rounded • Suspect butting kits have red / orange seals. • If butting kit does not fit door jamb properly it is suggested that the corners of the butting kit frame be ground to the proper radius.

  10. Butting Kit Discrepancies • Prior to rounding the corners the paint in the area to be ground shall be removed IAW NA 17-1-125 Corrosion Control Manual • Corners shall be ground to a radius between 0.15 and 020 • After rounding the corners touch up effected areas IAW NA 17-1-125 Corrosion Control Manual

  16. ECU Fan Failures • MALS 29 Deficiency Report (DR) detailed 2 failures • Outdoor fan vibrated out of Fan Support Assembly causing blade to hit outdoor coil and shroud

  17. ECU Fan Failures • Resolution: Inspection via SEB to determine if cause is design or factory workmanship (i.e. bolt in photos not torqued enough). • Possible hardware fix consists of adding rubber adhesive btwn fan support and motor being evaluated by OEM. Failure Position @1.375” from motor edge Correct Position @2.25” from edge

  19. Compressor Phase Sensitivity • R-134A ECU has a 3 phase Scroll Compressor that must be phase matched. R-134A ECU Scroll Compressor can not run in reverse without being damaged while R-22 ECU Reciprocating Compressor is not phase sensitive. • NA 17-573 WP 7 Trouble-Shooting Guide states compressor noise as symptom of improper phasing. • Compressor wires are color coded and tagged, T-1(black), T-2 (red), T-3 (blue). • Follow the NA 17-1-573 WP 19 wiring diagram and wire list when replacing compressors. • Input power must also be phase matched. NATEC reps Dan Tripplet (904)542-4265, Jesse Ramsey (619) 545-6521 can provide electrical installation guidance, if needed. R-134A Scroll Compressor

  20. Robertshaw Thermostat • Only authorized Indoor Thermostat for R-134A ECU is digital thermostat PN 1559AS595-1 (Robertshaw model 8425). • NA 17-1-573 WP 13 provides details and description
