La meta: Earlier introduction to verbs • Use a thematic based lesson: Mall shopping • Limit lesson to just 2 verb forms: infinitives and 1st person singular • Preset: sing and discuss Hoy, yovoy; explicit instruction on verbs with notes & homework • Week 2: Guided writing in class with notes • Week 3: Use SFCs in groups, following earlier guided writing pattern
After the song • Go through the song Powerpoint slides without music, pointing out the relevant grammar concept • Go through notes on verb conjugation (handouts, p. 3) • Assign the homework (handouts, p. 4) and, using the hovercam, do the first few together in class
Week 2: Guided writing • Sing song and check/correct homework • Use back of today’s notes (handout, p. 5) to discuss names for various types of stores • Carefully go through front of notes (handout, p. 6), teaching today’s writing assignment • Aid students during remaining class time as they begin writing (handout, p. 7)
