  5. What Does Ohio Need Stay Competitive in the 21st Century • More graduates with higher education degrees • More timely degree completion • More efficient completion (cost) • Less repeat of learning/receive credit for what you have completed

  6. Challenges • Providing incentives to retain students to degree completion • Accurately reflect and record work completed by students that meets established degree requirements • Tracking students mobility as they transfer. • Developing systems at both sending and receiving C/U’s to facilitate ease of information exchange and degree award.

  7. What Do We Have In Place ? • Bilateral articulation since the early 1990’s • Statewide articulation since mid-1990’s • Statewide articulation broadened since 2004 • OAN/TAGs and CTAN/CTAGs • HEI student tracking

  8. A New Approach- Reverse Transfer Students • Who are they? • Students that have transferred to another institution and have completed at least 20 credit hours with a 2.00 GPA to fulfill the residency requirement at CCC • Using current State of Ohio Transfer Policy guidelines Graduate Students that meet all the graduation requirements at Tri-C after transferring their Baccalaureate track courses taken at their current institution(s).

  9. Pilot Project • Worked with Cleveland State University • CSU assisted us in identifying students • Notification was sent out by CSU advising the students of the opportunity to get a Associate degree from Tri-C. • A waiver allowing the students transcript to be sent to Tri-C for evaluation was filled out by students.

  10. Pilot Continued • Transcripts from CSU were sent to Tri-C • Transcripts were evaluated • Degree Audits were run to evaluated degree completion against the AA or AS degrees • Notification was sent to students whether they meet the requirements or not

  11. Results • 53 Total degrees (some received both AA & AS) • 39 Students completed • 18 Needed one requirement • 50 Multi-requirement • 107 Total applied
