  2. WHAT ARE TERMITES They are the creatures that feed on wood. Termites are the most common pest found in your home. They are very wicked and extremely difficult to remove. Termite infestation is a serious problem in every season.

  3. SOME COMMON TYPES OF TERMITES

  4. DRY WOOD TERMITES Unlike other termites dry wood termites don't need soil moisture. They directly live on wood. They infest dry food such as walls, cornices, and sidings.

  5. DAMP WOOD TERMITES Unlike other termites damp wood do not live in soil. They invade wood that is on ground, only when it is decaying. They require wood with high moisture content.

  6. FORMOSAN TERMITES They are very difficult to remove once they infect the structure. They are known as invasive species in termites. They are most destructive timbre pest in USA.

  7. REMEDIES

  8. 1.VINEGAR This is a common household product that you use for cleaning purposes. To kill these termites, mix half a cup of vinegar with juice of 2 lemons and store this in a spray bottle. Spray this mixture to the areas where you suspect the presence of termites.

  9. 2.ORANGE OIL This oil is derived from the orange peels and is very toxic to termites. Spray this oil directly on the termites and other suspicious areas. This action will cause loss of moisture and protein and hence kill them!

  10. 3.NEMATODES The termites are present in a dark and moist environment. Nematodes are parasitic worms that hunt these termites and feed on them. They are an efficient solution for termites if you inject them into the infested areas.

  11. 4.CARDBOARD TRAPS Termites thrive for water and cellulose. Cardboard traps are effective because they contain cellulose. Spray some water on cardboard, this will lure the termites to one specific spot where you can see them.

  12. 5.BORIC ACID This is also called as borax powder and can be used to wash your clothes. Mix this powder with water and spray this to the areas where the termite infestation is present.
