  1. PEMPAL: Internal AuditorsCommunity of Practice (COP) What is it? A network of Internal Audit professionals sustained by the valuable exchange of ideas, techniques, experiences and problems.

  2. Why a Community of Practice (CoP)? • To help each solve problems • To hear each other’s stories and avoid local blindness • To keep up with change • To reflect on their practice and improve it • To push the boundaries of their field • To find a voice and gain influence

  3. What does our COP do? • Workshops: Ljubljana, Chisinau and Istanbul • After Chisinau: 4 sub-Groups on 4 themes voted most important – work in progress • Country visit (small grant program) • video-conferences • Support from experts • Website (pempal.org)

Istanbul, 24-27 February:What we are trying to achieve To learn from and with each other through sharing experience (sessions 4 & 5, 8 & 9, 10 & 11) To reconnect and progress with the 4 sub-groups (sessions 3, 6 & 7, 14 & 15) To design the 2008 agenda for our community (session 16) To select organization and leadership for our COP (session 17) To learn about benchmarking development of Internal Audit function (sessions 12 & 13)

  5. Agenda for 2008: Menu of Options but limited budget!(sessions 14, 15 &16) • Plenary Workshop • Progress with work by Group 1 and Group 3 (tool developments with support from experts) • Individual, bilateral or Group activities under small grant program– for example: • Case clinics • Country visits • Seminars (on site or through video-conferences) • Specialized workshops • Sharing documents • Improve website • Mutual benchmarking • Mentoring • Hot topic discussions
