  5. One manmade experiment went horribly wrong… Causing a nuclear reactor to explode

  6. 50 tons of radiation particles were released into the air which will last thousands of years

  7. 30 people died immediately

  8. Over the course of a few months, it is reported that there were approximately 24,000 deaths

  9. Since the disaster there have been 6,000 cases of thyroid cancer in children who were exposed to the radiation

  10. In the absence of humans, rare species of moose, birds, beavers, wolves, and boars have returned to Pripyat.

  11. The radiation from Chernobyl has caused mutations in plants, animals, and humans…

  12. $400 million has been spent on securing the damaged reactor

  13. An estimated $6.6 billion will be spent repairing the deserted city of Pripyat.

  14. This disaster has affected the lives of millions…

  15. And it’s our job to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.
