  2. mayhem(pg. 81) Mayhem is a scene of destruction and violence or chaos. Have you ever seen a time of mayhem?

  3. grotesque(page 86) Grotesque means something is gross or ugly to look at. What have you seen that is grotesque?

  4. leverage(page 95) Leverage means to use something that you already have to get something else that is new or better. Think of a time when you used something as leverage to get what you wanted.

  5. conspiracy(page 101) A conspiracy is a secret plan to do evil or unlawful acts. Do you think the destroying of the Twin Towers on September 11 was a conspiracy? Why or why not?

  6. erroneous (page 104) When something is erroneous, it is wrong or incorrect. What is erroneous about this picture?

  7. morbid (page 109) Morbid is having to with something unpleasant like death or disease. What kind of person has morbid thoughts? A happy or sad person?
