5. Auto means self. • In an autograph, you write your own name. • An autocracy is a government like a monarchy where the ruler can make all the decisions himself. • An autobiography is a book you write telling the story of your own life.

6. Chron means time. • A chronic cold is one that lasts a long time. • Chronological means in time-order from past to present. • To synchronize watches means to set them to the same time.

7. Dec means ten. • A decade is ten years. • The decimal system is a number system based on tens. • A decimated army has lost ten percent or more of its soldiers.
