Background • In 2007, the Government committed to growing the community housing sector from 13,000 to 30,000 homes in ten years • The sector has grown already to over 17,000 homes • Around 90% of the properties being delivered under the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan in NSW will be managed by community housing providers. This alone will boost community housing numbers by around 5,400 dwellings • Community housing providers will also manage and own additional properties via other commonwealth-funded programs.

  3. Introducing Housing Pathways Housing Pathways will have: a common application form integration of community and public housing waiting lists Integration of IT systems community housing providers’ ownership of properties transferred under Economic Stimulus Plan.

  4. ONE Application Process For Clients Application for Housing Assistance

Stage 1: Key outcomes of the Housing Pathways Improved access to housing assistance and an efficient system for providers and applicants that improves access to a range of products A client can seek housing advice and assistance through 27 community housing providers (including NCCHC) and any Housing NSW office One application form Housing NSW and 27 community housing providers will allocate properties from the one list Housing NSW and community housing (access) policies are very similar and each provider will apply their policies. Applicants have more opportunities to be housed providing they register interest in both public and community housing, including aboriginal housing

Includes Common Application form Common Housing Register Existing tenants can apply for a transfer both with a community housing provider and Housing NSW Different tenant entitlements and ranking schemes Excludes (between providers) Mutual Exchange Succession of tenancy Community housing transfers
