  3. Simile Definition: Is a direct comparison between two different objects using as or like. E.g. He is as brave as a lion. is as brave as

  4. Metaphor Definition: It is an Implied Simile but it doesn’t include the words like & as. E.g. He is a peacock. is

  5. Personification Definition: Is used whena human action is given to a non human. E.g. The rabbit is wearing a tie.

  6. Alliteration Definition: A letter is repeated specially the first letter.(sound) E.g. The bright bird flew.

  7. Irony Definition: A positive sentence gives negative stress to the meaning or we mean the opposite of the sentence. E.g. Khalfan is a very young man.(means very old)

  8. Exclamation Definition: It is used to draw attention through surprise. E.g. What a disgusting picture!

  9. Litotes Definition: It means negative sentence gives positive stress to the meaning of the sentence. E.g. I’m not an ordinary man. (means extra-ordinary man)

  10. Transferred Epithet Definition: It means when human feeling is transferred to non-human or non-living thing. E.g. The night was sleepless for him. (His sleeplessness is transferred to the night)

  11. Metonymy Definition: It is a substitution of name. E.g. The house will oppose this budget. (Members of lokSabha)

  12. Onomatopoeia Definition: When words suggest the sense of sound. E.g. The babble rose and burst around.
