  2. What is teamwork?

  3. What is Mississippi currently doing? What is Mississippi currently doing? • In-school programs focusing on drop-out prevention with curriculum that includes work experience, employability skills, etc. These programs focus on graduation from high school and obtaining a job or furthering education by entering college.

  4. What is Mississippi currently doing? • Out-of-School programs targeting youth who are high-school drop-outs, offenders, in foster care, pregnant or parenting, homeless, basic skills deficient, etc. These programs help the youth work toward obtaining a GED and also helps prepare them for college or obtaining a job.

  5. What is Mississippi currently doing? • Mississippi has also housed several Youth mentorship programs that allow students in-school and out-of-school, while working towards their high school diploma/GED, the opportunity to obtain work skills and a credential such as a CNA licensure.

  6. What is Mississippi currently doing? • The Mississippi Department of Education has recently hired a Drop-out prevention coordinator to specifically work on the drop-out problem.

  7. As you can see, Mississippi already has wonderful programs established serving our neediest youth Yet our State recognizes that we still face serious problems.

  9. Youth Vision Team Members Include: • MS Dept of Employment Security • MS Dept of Rehab Services • United Way • Local Workforce Investment Area Youth Programs • HUD • MS Planning & Development …

  11. Our Youth Vision Team Goals: • Coordinate as existing programs by forming together as an interagency group • Develop network of services available using statistics from Department of Education. Information will be shared among all agencies and partners • Hold monthly team meetings to ensure goals are met

  12. We will work together as a team to achieve our goal … And in the end….
