W. Kundzewicz (PAS, PIK), L. Menzel (PIK) A. Bronstert (PIK), F.- W. Gerstengarbe (PIK), M. Radziejewski (PAS), and others

  2. Current research activites and expertise at PIK What is special about WARD at PIK? - Experience and results from the earlier works in the subject area • European: EUROTAS, RIBAMOD, IRMA - LAHoR, •National: GLOWA - Elbe, DFNK - Co-operation with South African partners on floods and droughts in SA (Thukela HELP-basin) - Availability of the data bank system in PIK

  3. Current research activites and expertise at PIK - Availability of climate downscaling, hydrological and integrated models, e.g. EDS, HBV-D, TRAIN, LADEMO - Multi-Disciplinary environment with expertise in Climatology, Hydrology, Social and Economic Systems - Our strong sides and interests: • Regional climate modelling, downscaling • Hydrological modelling • Climate change impacts • Land-use change impacts

  4. Current research activites and expertise at PAS - Partners in MICE (Modelling Impacts of Climate Extremes) Project of EU - Multiple contributions to IPCC TAR (among others: Kundzewicz – Coordinating Lead Author of Chapter 13 – Europe, of IPCC WG2 TAR) - Strong sides and interests: • Change detection in time series of hydrological data • Floods vs. sustainable development • Flood-related conflicts
