Sign Up • Field Trip* need clearances • As needed • Scholastic Book Club • www.scholastic.com/bookclubs • class activation code: GP3PV • Pre-Register your license for portal system- faster sign in process for events at school • Events at school- need you sign in through portal system, line can get long so it’s best to be pre-registered

  4. Kindergarten Procedures:Transportation • Drop off • AM 8:35: wall by the main doors and library • PM 12:40: lobby by main office • Dismissal • AM Dismissal- 11:25 • PM Dismissal- 3:25 *Safe Arrival app- report your child’s absence

  5. Supplies and House Keeping 1 school bag- first and last name, address, phone number and dismissal tag Make sure it’s big enough to fit notebook and snack/lunch 1 marble notebook- first and last name *Please keep the rubber band on the notebook pack an extra set of clothes for any accidents. Keep in school bag

Snacks • Nut & Egg Free Environment • Please send in a small snack-one item and a drink • Healthy snack- fruit, vegetables, crackers • Water- no milk or fruit juices please • If your child would like to bring a water bottle, that’s fine. • Snacks are not shared • Food allergies or specific diets- please let me know. • Please see the “SAFE FOOD LIST”

  7. Birthday’s • Your child may celebrate his/her birthday in the classroom. • You may send in prepared goodie bags (no food please) • Read a special story • Play a game • Extra recess • Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the year • Please send in a note- one week before

  8. Notesplace all notes inside your child’s marble notebook under the rubber band • Change of dismissal • Communication • Daily • Responding to notes/questions • Common assessments will be sent home for you to sign and return (reading comprehension tests)

Homework and News • Check the class website • www.haverford.k12.pa.us/manoa • click on “Faculty” • click on “Carney, Mrs. Lindsay” • click on “Homework and News” • Newsletters-usually posted on Wednesday’s • What the children are learning • Announcements/News • Field Trips • Homework-usually due the following Wednesday • Place homework in marble notebook • ***STAR means it’s a report card skill, I will send a certificate home letting you know how he/she did

  10. ACT 80 Days • Alternates when AM and PM come in the morning • AM- arrival and dismissal same (no PM) • PM-arrival and dismissal different (no AM) 8:35 arrival 11:50 dismissal • Conference days are ACT 80 days too- -substitute teacher

Curriculum • Reading: Benchmark Literacy • Work on a comprehension skill for 3 weeks • shared reading -> guided reading -> independent reading • parents can help by encouraging reading at home, books will not be sent home • Science and Social Studies: combined with Language Arts • RAZ “Reading A-Z” – reading app • Phonics:Fundations • Phonemic Awareness- being aware of sounds; blending sounds to make words • Phonics- letter-sound relationship, making words • TRICK WORDS

  12. Writing • Writing letters to match sounds and words • Describe their illustration • we work on different types of writing ex: fiction/non-fiction, writing in response to reading

  13. Singapore Math Math in Focus Students think about they why and how they got their answers Practice a skill for a few weeks through games and activities, mastery!
