  2. Project Introduction • Re- design of bed located at Colorado State University’s Plant Environmental Research Center (PERC). • Incorporation of a variety of perennial trial plants desired.

  3. Site Analysis • Located outside the Plant Environmental Research Center on W. Lake St. • Exposure: NW portion of bed will be mostly shaded. While the SE portion will be sunny. • Soil: Clay Loam 7.3 pH

  4. Site Requirements • The Celtisoccidentalisand the Gelditsiatriocanthusmust remain in the landscape. (Located in north-west region of bed.) • Pop up irrigation system already installed at site. • Use of plants that allow for year round landscape color and texture.

  5. Objectives • Utilize perennials in a landscape that displays color and texture year round. • Theme: The Four Seasons • Removal of turf and existing plant material, removal of railroad ties for additional space, and application of mulch • Plant selections represent a diversity of plant size, color, texture, and bloom time.

Spring Plant Selections • Spring plant choices represent a variety of early blooming ground cover, as well as taller more showy species. • Most of the Spring plant choices are shade loving plants, which will be well suited for the shady area of the bed near the trees that remain. • Plants selected will offer an aesthetic display throughout the Spring season (March-May).
