  2. How to Participate in the Webinar 1) Chat & Questions. If you do NOT have access to a mic and do not call in with a phone, you can use the Questions feature to type a question that you want to ask to the presenters. At the end of the presentation, the facilitator will read out loud any questions that come through this feature. 2) Raise Hand. For most of the webinar, all participants will be in listen-only mode, meaning they will be muted. When the presenter opens the floor for questions, people will not be unmuted unless they use the Raise Hand function.

  3. James McPherson, MD, MPH, FACS is medical director of the LACVTS Group. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, which is a teaching hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He then completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Southern California. Dr. McPherson has served on the faculty at USC for four years before founding Los Angeles Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Group. He has expertise in minimally invasive cardiovascular and thoracic surgical approaches that decrease both post-operative pain and the hospital length of stay. Dr. McPherson offers patients the latest alternatives in dealing with heart and lung disease including the use of the da Vinci surgical robot. He has also trained extensively in minimally invasive endovascular therapy for patients with leg pain due to peripheral arterial disease. Dr. McPherson is currently Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance California. He has also served as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Centinela Hospital Medical Center as well as St. Vincent Medical Center. Dr. McPherson is board certified by the American Boards of Surgery and Thoracic surgery. Dr. McPherson is actively involved in the Los Angeles community and serves on the board of directors of the Los Angeles American Heart Association and Barlow Respiratory Hospital. Dr. McPherson also speaks Spanish.
