  3. 2017 vintage @ Casa Agrícola Alexandre Relvas The smallest vintage since 2003 • Date: from 1st August to 15th September – four weeks before the 2016 vintage • Total of harvested area: 630 acres (255 hectares) • Total of Red Grapes: 850 tons • Total of White Grapes: 135 tons • Average yeld per ha: 3.86 tons • Best quality red grapes of the vintage: • Trincadeira, Touriga Franca and Syrah • Best quality white grapes of the vintage: • Arinto and Verdelho • Main Red Grapes: Aragonez (23%), Touriga Nacional (14%), Alicante Bouschet (14%), Trincadeira (13%), Cabernet Sauvignon (11%), Touriga Franca (10%) and Syrah (10%) • Main White Grapes: Arinto (30%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%), Verdelho (20%), Viozionho (15%), Antão Vaz (10%) QUINTESSENTIAL IMPORTER | MARKETER | DISTRIBUTOR www.quintessentialwines.com

  4. 2017 vintage @ Casa Agrícola Alexandre Relvas 2017 was the third year of drought in the Alentejo. The winter of 2017 was very dry and cold, rainfall was not enough to stock water into the dams or groundwater reserves which had been totally used in 2015 and 2016. In general, spring was dry and temperature was mild with no high pressure of Mildiou and Oidium. The only exception was April, where we had negative temperatures during the night that made some ice burning on the southern Alentejo. Summer time was very dry but not so warm and nights were generally cold, with only a few days over 104ºF (40ºC). Grapes were ripe very early, and the weather during harvest was great, quite low temperatures and no rain.   5. 2017 vintage @ Casa Agrícola Alexandre Relvas 2017 harvest had begun very early. For the whites grapes we had begun on the 1st August with Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho and for the red grapes the 7th August with Trincadeira. In this vintage all white grapes had achieved ripeness very early. Whites wines from 2017 are balanced with nice aromatic intensity and nice acidify. On the best parcels of Arinto the freshness and minerality are amazing this vintage. Red grapes got ripe also very early. All the grapes had arrived the winery in very good conditions of analysis and skin quality. With the exception of the dry farming grapes which had arrived quite dry and unbalanced. Red wines from 2017 are powerful, with a lot of color intensity, very qualitative tannins and a nice balance between acidity and alcohol. We believe that 2017 vintage quality is over the average and it will be compared with 2013 vintage.   6. 2017 vintage @ Casa Agrícola Alexandre Relvas In this moment (25th September) almost all the alcoholic fermentations have ended and malolactic are at their explendor. Amphora wines are still in contact with the skins. This vintage we expect to have entry and middle level wines with superb quality, with a lot of expression and character, very aromatic and balanced. After a 2016 without producing our top wines we are happy to have in 2017 a nice quantity of top wines. The work during oak ageing will be crucial for these delicate wines. 2017 is the smallest but one of the best vintages in Alentejo!
