  1. India’s over-population -AND HOW IT IS BEING MANAGED

  2. “Recent United Nations projections, carried by the Daily Mail, show India could overtake China and its 1.34 billion people as the world's most populous nation by 2030” • India, much like China, is experiencing an alarming population increase. Unlike China’s controversial ‘one-child-policy’, Indian health officials have a very different idea in order to attempt to slow down their expanding population – Sterilisation..with incentives!

  3. “The innovative scheme follows recent predictions that India, home to 1.21 billion people, will soon pip China as the world’s most populated country” • Sterilisation is essentially neutering for humans! It is a medical treatment that leaves the patient intentionally infertile • India are offering a variety of prizes and a lottery draw for everyone who becomes sterilised. These includes TVs, Cars, and food processors etc.

  4. “"We felt we were falling behind on our sterilization targets of 21,000 per year, so the district collector came up with this idea. We hope at least 6,000 people will come forward in the next 3 months."“ • Authorities have claimed there have been no complaints so far, however people such as family planning advocates are not too pleased with the campaign

  5. “"If there is electricity in every village, then people will watch TV till late at night and then fall asleep. They won’t get a chance to produce children“” • The country is also attempting to provide everyone, including the more rural areas with electricity. They believe this will encourage them to watch more TV into the night instead of producing more children! India hope that this too, will help bring birth rates and population down in a way that people are happy with.
