    1. Welcome To The George Bray Special Hockey Association “A hockey program for children with special learning needs” “A parent participating non-profit Organization”

    2. Board of Directors

    3. What Do We Do? As The Board of Directors We Work As A Team As a team we are responsible for making decisions for the league. These decisions reflect the way the league works, from organizing special events to maintaining the operations of the league. At any time a parent or guardian would like to make a suggestion or air a complaint anyone of the above mentioned people will be all ears. Being a parent participating organization means that “Your Input” is valuable to us and important to the improvement of the league. The Board of Directors are all volunteers who give freely of their time.

    4. Who We Are And What We Do? Thirty-six years ago, Mr. George Bray organized a hockey program for young people with special learning needs. The George Bray Sports Association Inc. was then started to provide a program for those in special learning programs in elementary or secondary schools. These youngsters may otherwise not have played hockey for any other organization. The league stresses “FUN” not “Competition” and provides each player with equal ice time, regardless of ability. Most of the participants have never played hockey before the program and have found it to be a great benefit in developing their self-esteem and sense of participation in a team sport. Most important is that everyone has fun on the ice and the parents enjoy watching their youngsters involved in the game. The league is a parent participating non-profit organization. The coaches, junior referees, timekeepers and the executive are all volunteers who give freely many hours to our organization.

    5. Special Events of the Season Skate A Thon Helps raise money for the league with a 100 lap maximum. The players who participate win prizes. These prizes range from a hockey stick to a special award (league jacket) inclusively. It’s a win-win, the players win many, many prizes and it is one of the league’s major fundraiser, keeping our registration fees as low as possible. Silent Auction and Dance (March) A fun night for parents and friends, to help raise money for the league. All money stays in the league to keep our registration fees as low as possible. Plan to attend to support your league. Awards Day Presentation This event is enjoyed by all -- trophies to every player. What a Great Way To End The Season!

    6. What Makes This League Work? “Volunteers” To continue to be successful the George Bray Special Hockey league needs “You” to volunteer. Many jobs available take only a few hours of your time for a whole season. For example, volunteer to help at our annual Silent Auction, or Awards Day Presentation. If coaching, timekeeping, or helping on the ice interests you, there is a place for you. We are always on the look out for help getting ready for the next season with collating and stuffing envelopes. Call one of our Board members today! Other ways to support your league, attend our fund raising events. The Silent Auction is one of major events. Get your children involved with our Skate a Thon. They win prizes and raise money for the league. Give us your input. Plan to attend our Annual General Meeting. Show your support. Express your views. If you know of other children who qualify for our league, promote us. If you know of potential sponsors give us the information and will send out a package to them. Help sell the “Sweater Tickets”. We have many books unsold and this reflect loss revenue for the league. Support Your League! The league needs You to keep the league growing strong.
