  3. How can I find out about sources of funding? • HVA’s newsletter, ebulletins and funding email list • HVA’s Small Grants Guide • ESCC’s Funding News • ESCC’s GrantNet funding search tool • Funding Central (www.fundingcentral.org.uk) • Information streams relevant for your field of work

  4. How can I learn how to write a funding application? HVA can provide: • Training • Specific one-to-one advice • A read-through service

  10. Problems with Partnerships • Are the different organisations compatible? • How will it work in reality? • Who is responsible and accountable for what? • What happens when things go wrong?

How can HVA help? • Put you in touch with related organisations • Provide networking opportunities • Bring people together e.g.Health applications to Reaching Communities Responses to welfare reforms • Broker partnerships (small and large) e.g.Improving Financial Confidence • Provide model agreements

  13. Rate relief • Charities & CASCs (sports clubs) 80% mandatory, 20% discretionary • Others – 100% discretionary • Currently the discretionary rate relief is worth approx. £170,000 to about 100 organisations • HBC surveyed 46 organisations in Feb 2012. • Now – raising awareness of the issue

HBC’s budget consultation • Another Conversation In 2010: out of 33 services • "financial support for voluntary and community groups" was ranked 26th • "support community groups" was ranked 30th • "subsidise charities and sports clubs by paying part of their property rates" was ranked lowest out of 33 services.
