Review Process (1) • 234 Program Committee members, 149 external reviewers • Received 464 submissions • Authors chose track at submission time • In a few cases, we changed the track of a submission • First review round • Each paper assigned to 4 PC members • Vast majority of reviews completed • Second review round • Additional reviews for papers with < 4 first-round reviews • Supplementary reviews for papers with highly divergent opinions • VCs assigned more reviews to selected papers

Review Process (2) • PC members ranked the order of assigned papers • Instead of accept/reject recommendations • Goal: eliminate bias from narrow view of conference’s submissions • Online discussion among reviewers • Each track selected a set of top papers • 5 to 13 papers per track • Papers partially ordered within each track • TPC meeting – February 22nd in Redmond, WA – 8 hours • 10 vice chairs and program chair • Loose merge-sort of top papers from all tracks • Determined cutoff point for acceptance • 61 papers accepted – acceptance rate below 14%
