  1. Ted Bundy By: Jana Wolskij

  2. What He Did • Ted Bundy was a serial killer in the 70’s. • He killed more than 40 women, but still to this day, the exact number is unknown. • What he would do was trap women into thinking that he was hurt and needed help, and would brutally beat them. He would also rape his victims (whether they were alive or dead; necrophiliac.)

  3. Background to Childhood • Pretty messed up childhood. • His real name is Theodore Robert Cowell • Biological father is unknown. His mother was too young to care for him, so he grew up thinking that his grandparents (Samuel and Eleanor Cowell) were his parents, and his mother (Louise Cowell) was his sister. • Grandfather was known for being violent; especially to their pets • Started obsessing with porn at a very young age. • He moved to Washington with his sister/mother in 1950. Louise got married to Johnny Bundy, and they changed their last name to Bundy. • Started his first year at college at University of Puget Sound (UPS).

  4. College Years • Went to 2 different colleges in the State of Washington (University of Puget Sound and University of Washington) • Took classes in Psychology and Asian Studies. Got a degree in Psychology at U of Washington. • Went back to UPS for law school, which didn’t work and he ultimately dropped out. • Not much after dropping out of UPS for law school, Ted Bundy began his murdering. (which starts at U of Washington.)

  5. Murders • More than 40 Murders, but the exact amount is still unknown. • Murdered people in 5 different states; Washington, Utah, Colorado,Oregon, and Florida. • His victims were primarily college girl students at local universities in these states. He first victim was at U of Washington. • He had a certain pattern of catching his victims. • 1. Act like he was hurt • 2. Ask for help • 3. Volkswagen Beetle • 4. Beat and Rape them • Random people would see Bundy and the girls together in the Beetle, but never really thought much of it. • He was first caught in Salt Lake City,Utah, and then he was caught in Pensacola, FL which ended the killing spree.

  6. Florida State University • One of his most famous murders • He went into the Chi Omega Sorority House on the FSU campus and killed 3 girls, and hurt 1 girl. • January 15,1978 3:00am (early morning of the Rose Bowl)

  7. Personal Experience • Both my mom and one of her good work friends lived in Tallahassee when this happened. They both attended FSU. Except my mom was a Junior at the time, and her friend didn’t come for a couple of years later • Questions I asked: • 1. How did you hear about the killings? • 2. How was the security after these killings? • 3. Did you know anyone from Chi-Omega/any of your friends did? • 4. Any random things that you remember.

  8. In The End • Ted Bundy was caught after killing a 12 year old girl (Kimberly Leach) in Lake City, FL. • He was prosecuted in both Lake City and Miami. Lake City for Kimberly Leach, and Miami for the Chi Omega murders. • He was proven guilty from both trials in Florida, and was sentenced to the electric chair • While he was waiting for his death, he provided the FBI with other women he had killed that they hadn’t found. • He also got married in jail to Carole Ann Boone. They also had a child in October of 1982. Eventually, she divorced him and moved away and changed their last name so no one would find them or know that she was Ted Bundy’s daughter.

  9. Evidence Found • Evidence that proved he was Ted Bundy • Fingerprint after not stopping for a cop in Pensacola • Evidence that helped with Kimberly Leach’s Case: • Fibers found in his car that matched what Kimberly was wearing • Eyewitness that saw Bundy taking Kimberly “home” from school. • Evidence that helped with Chi-Omega Case: • Nita Neary- Member of Chi Omega, was getting back late and saw Bundy leaving from house. • Also during one of his rampage, he bit one of his victims on her butt, and he left teeth marks. They got a mode of his mouth and made a positive match to the marks.
