    2. March 2006 2 What is an Individual Professional Development Plan (I-Plan)? A goals-driven professional development plan for recertification that is: Informed by self-study Grounded in professional standards Supported by professional development activities chosen by the educator

    4. March 2006 4 Who Is Required to Participate? All Rhode Island educators renewing certificates for their current work assignment. Any newly certified educator who obtains a position using that certificate.

    6. March 2006 6 What are the qualifying Professional Development Categories? 1. College and University Coursework 2. Conferences/Workshops & Training Sessions 3. Collaborative and Partnership Activities 4. Involvement in Development/Improvement Processes. 5. Individually-Guided Professional Development 6. Professional Leadership Experiences

    7. March 2006 7 How is the I-Plan Implemented? Submit an I-Plan for approval. Participate in and document completed professional development activities to support I-Plan goals. Provide annual updates of completed professional development activities. Submit final verification forms of professional development activities and the professional analysis.

    8. March 2006 8 How many goals-related professional development hours are required? 150 total hours are required for a 5-year professional certificate. Educators show a minimum of 20 hours per goal.

    9. March 2006 9 How do I renew my certificate with I-Plan? Submit final verification forms of all completed professional development activities as they relate to goals during the past five years. Submit the professional analysis. Review and acceptance, by RIDE, of the professional development activities is the basis for renewal.
