NArFU: BEAR cooperation in numbers • 11 cooperation agreements with academic organizations in BEAR; • 18 international projects with BEAR partner organizations (including 6 projects within Kolarctic ENPI CBC program); • More than 70% of overall NArFU international academic mobility flow is directed to BEAR countries; • 7 joint international programs; • 2011/2012 academic year: 441 NArFU students and 189 teaching staff visited BEAR partner organizations; • 2010-2012: more than 80 visiting professors from BEAR partner organizations were involved in educational process at NArFU.

From Project Management to Regional Development: Examples and Results (1) • BART / Private-Public Partnership in Barents-Tourism – creating and initiating development mechanisms in long term public-private partnership for the tourism industry on all stakeholders’ levels • KITENPI / Kolarctic IT: Education, Networking, Partnering, Infrastructure – business companies among project partners (InternetBay AB, Luleå Näringsliv AB, Informations Teknik i Norrbotten AB, RUSSOFT association), exchanging best practices on industrial partnering and involvement in education, research and open innovation • CETIA / Coastal Environment, Technology and Innovation in the Arctic – joint research activities on monitoring of Barents sea coastal areas environment and bioremediation technologies. Project partners: universities, research and business organizations. 10

From Project Management to Regional Development: Examples and Results (2) • Water Management and Climate Change – Common Challenges, Common Decisions (under Nordic Council of Ministers program) – development of course on water management at NArFU in partnership with Agency of Natural Resources and Ecology of Arkhangelsk Region • Partnership with Statoil ASA, Norway: • NArFU research on evaluation of social and economic effects of Stockman field development • 2011-2012: “Idea Sourcing” – students’ innovation projects initiative • Statoil scholarships for talented students • NArFU (ASTU) partnership with BIM Kemi AB (Sweden) since 2000: research on application of chemicals 11

Development of Legal Framework with Regional and Local Authorities • Decree of Arkhangelsk region issued on 30.05.2011№ 295-22-ОЗ “State support of Northern (Arctic) Federal University”. • Long-term target program “Support of development of Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov for 2012-2016” was accepted by Arkhangelsk region government on 27.09.2011. • Partnership agreement with Nenets Autonomous district government (September 2010) • “Arkhangelsk – university city” (working group is established by the decree of mayor)
