  2. Amanda Urquiza • Eric Moser • Andrew Siemens • Ryan Stelzer • Alex Yudkovitz The Team

  3. Test efficiency of solar panels at high altitudes • Hypothesis: Solar panels would generate more power at higher altitudes • Results: • More voltage generated at higher altitudes • Accelerometer failed Fall Launch Recap

  4. Test capability and efficiency of solar panels • How much power can be obtained • Practicality of solar panels for industrial use • Factors that help or hinder solar panel’s effectiveness • Solar panels will charge 1.5 Volt battery • Better understanding of electronics, i.e. arduino, basic circuits, and programming • Videos for outreach events Spring 2014 Goals

  5. Two carbon fiber cylinders • Smaller cylinder nested inside large cylinder • 25.5 cm tall • Small cylinder: 14.7 cm diameter • Large cylinder: 19.7 cm diameter • Two-part liquid foam • When mixed, solidifies into foam and expands • 2 lbs per cubic foot • Polystyrene foam • House internal components • Lexan Polycarbonate • Used to cap the top and bottom of payload Structure

  6. Structure

  7. Sample Output: Time 00:00:45 Acceleration: x: 0 y: 0 z: 1.0 altitude: 75,962 (ft) B field: x: 223 y: 334 z: 453 voltage: 1.5 (v) Experiment

  8. Controlled by Arduino Uno • Powered by a 9V battery • Muvi facing horizontal • GoPro facing down Electronics
