  2. Key Points • Mon-Fri (9am - 5pm). Average 16 patients/day • 1 guaranteed IP slot & CC slot per day • Limited number of paediatric exams performed • No sedation or monitoring currently available • Consultant referral via form on Intranet • Safety checklist MUST be completed

  3. Key Points • Do not send patients with contra-indicated or MRI unsafe implants/devices • MRI is not an option for everyone (Claustrophobics/unable to keep still for 20 min) • Response team - DO NOT ENTER MAGNET ROOM • Maximum table weight of 135kg • Girth measurements required on all patients over 110kg

  4. MRI Safety • Risk of projectiles. The very strong magnetic field is switched on all the time. IT IS NEVER SWITCHED OFF

  5. MRI Safety Absolute Contraindications • Metal foreign body in the eye • Aneurysm clips - will have FATAL consequences • Cardiac pacemakers - will have FATAL consequences
