  2. Main Findings 3 overwhelming issues: • Better and more shops • Concerns & Fears - safety and cleanliness • Music/gigs • Shopping centre and ‘safety’ – stand-out issues • Need ‘more to do’ – 80%

  3. What do we want? Visiting • Little to attract/entertain Shops & Restaurants • H&M – 41 • Republic – 18 • Zara, BHS, Debenhams – 11 each Food/Drink • Burger King – 19 • TGI Fridays – 14 • Pizza Express – 10

Bringing in more footfall What City Park events? • Live music – 53 • Market (farmers, multicultural, international) – 23 • Funfair/children’s - 21 • Sport (e.g. basketball, bike tricks, skate jam) – 18 • Theatre productions – 23 (all) What 1 single attraction? • New shopping centre – 38% • Less hostile people/safer environment – 30%

The Competition Other places visited • Leeds, Halifax, White Rose, Trafford Ctr, M’hall Comments • Centre needs branding – economic and physical • Cleaner streets, less beggars, more events/cafes • “I never realised how bad Bradford was until I travelled further. When I come back I realise what people mean when they say Bradford is so bad. I wish I could be proud of living here.”

  6. What’s the Big Idea? Different ideas put forward • Zoo & Theme Park • O2 arena • Nature reserve-cum-Eden Project • Castleford’s Xscape complex  Night-time • “evening scene isn’t up to scratch” • More music and comedy @ Alhambra
