  1. SAU 53 LEARNING CIRCLE exists to support General Educators, Special Educators, and Administrators in their fulfillment of the SAU philosophy of inclusion of students while promoting educational gain.

  2. SAU 53 LEARNING CIRCLE PRESENTS A Workshop Curriculum, Instruction, and Supports for Students with Disabilities

  3. Cheryl Jorgensen from The Institute on Disability at UNH will provide training on how to write standards-based lessons that address both academics and functional skills

  4. GOALS • Plan standards-based lessons to meet the needs of students with significant disabilities • See how students with disabilities can learn functional skills as well as academics in the general ed classroom • Earn Staff Development Hours

  5. SAU 53 Staff Development Goals • To establish rigorous academic programs that will assure that high expectations are set for all students (Allenstown and CCS) • To assure the implementation of effective strategies for meeting the educational needs of our students (Allenstown) • To move the school district towards compliance with the Federal “No Child Left Behind” Act (CCS) • A program that accommodates the diversityof student needs (DCS) • To provide all students, including those with learning challenges, with curriculum and instruction aligned with the New Hampshire Frameworks of Curriculum Standards … ( ECS) • Each student will demonstrate effective problem solving, communication, self-directed learning and be a community contributor (Pembroke)
