  2. GUIDELINES • A QUIET OR NON-DISTRACTING PLACE TO WORK. • A TIME SET ASIDE – BE SPECIFIC • AN ENDING TIME – NO MORE THAN 2 HOURS ON A REGULAR BASIS. A PROJECT LEFT TO THE LAST DAY MAY TAKE MORE. • TAKING TOO LONG? TRY THE KITCHEN TABLE. OBSERVE WITHOUT INTERFERING.

  3. GUIDELINES • WHERE TO CUT? • AT LEAST WRITE DOWN MATH PROBLEMS THE NIGHT HOMEWORK IS ASSIGNED. • STUDENTS CAN THEN “FILL IN” SOME THE NEXT DAY. IT WILL BE LATE BUT BETTER THAN NOT BEING PREPARED. • WRITE THE WORDS WITHOUT DEFINITIONS – THEY CAN GET HELP FROM FRIENDS/TEACHER.

  4. ANSWERS LET B.O.B HELP – BACK OF THE BOOK THE ANSWERS ARE TO HELP YOUR STUDENT DO THE PROBLEMS CORECTLY. IT IS NOT CHEATING. IT IS BETTER TO DO A PROBLEM OVER OR KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MISSING THAN DO IT WRONG AND FIND OUT LATER.

  6. NEVER LET THEM WRITE “?” • WE WOULD RATHER HAVE A STUDENT WRITE THE PROBLEM DOWN AND ASK WHY THEY KEEP GETTING A DIFFERENT ANSWER THAN JUST “?” • ALWAYS WRITE EVERY PROBLEM AND LEAVE ROOM FOR AN ANSWER.

  7. ONLINE HELP • ALL MATH HAS ONLINE VIDEO, TEXTBOOK, AND PRACTICE QUESTIONS. PLEASE ENCOURAGE THEIR USE. • THE TOP OF EACH PAGE LISTS THE WEBSITE AND CODE TO VIEW VIDEOS. • GO.HRW.COM

  8. CORNELL NOTES • USE THE MARGIN FOR SINGLE WORDS, QUESTIONS, SUBJECT. • USE THE LARGER AREA FOR DEFINITIONS, PICTURES, ETC. • WRITE A SUMMARY AT THE BOTTOM EACH NIGHT.

  9. HOMEWORK • GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY • SET A TIMER FOR TASK CHALLENGED KIDS • TAKE A SHORT BREAK BETWEEN SUBJECTS • USE THE PLANNER AS A CHECK OFF GUIDE • CHECK TEACHER WEBSITES EVERY DAY • COMMUNICATE WITH THE TEACHER!
