MIÉRT VÁLTAKOZNAK AZ ÉVSZAKOK? • A Föld tengely körüli forgásán kívül más mozgást is végez: a Nap körüli keringést*.A Föld egy év alatt ellipszis* alakú pályán* járja körül a Napot, Ny-ról K-i irányban haladva.A keringés időtartama 365 és 1/4 nap. Mi azonban ezekkel a negyed napokkal aligha számolhatnánk a mindennapi életben. Ezért a négy évenként összeadódó teljes napot hozzátesszük az adott évhez. Így minden negyedik év egy nappal hosszabb lesz, ez a szökőév*.
