  1. PSB INJECTION:Mechanical Design Overview A. Dallocchio, M. Garlaschè, B. Riffaud, L. Zuccalli

  2. PSB Injection Design – The Starting Point: Conceptual design by TE/ABT EDMS:1244362 EN-MME Marco Garlaschè

  3. PSB Injection Design – January 2013: StatusLegenda: 0% 100% • Vacuum: • sectorization @ stripping • Dump & monitor: • SiC? Graphite? • No RP evaluations • Monitor: only plates defined • Chambers, bellows: • No spec on chamber, bellows • Inconel? Ceramic? • Magnets: • Support and fixation • (no plug & play) • Fiduciary system not defined EN-MME Marco Garlaschè

  4. PSB Injection Design – Today: • Vacuum: • New sectorization&vacuum systems • Dump, monitor: • different designs and integration studied • WDP, shielding • Monitor design • Chambers, bellows: • Spec for : BSWx& BHZxchambers • Bellows design defined • RF contacts, ceramic flanges • Magnets: • Final design • Support and regulation of magnet • Draft Lifting/Transport equipment • Detailed integration: • … • Interface w. stripping foil • Interface with BHZx EN-MME Marco Garlaschè

  5. Open Points: • Dump (Ti bulk) & monitor: • RP validation, shielding design • Thermostructural check on final geometry • Monitor & cablingdetails • Magnet & chambers: • Lifting/Transport • Chambers prototypes • Compression tool for bellows • Bus bars • Other: • Support System rigidity check • BLM Integration • Stripping unit? EN-MME Marco Garlaschè

  6. Conclusions: • Detailed 3D design completed: no showstoppers so far, provided RP green light • NEXT: • BLM integration and design of lifting tool to be tackled • Design consolidation with prototyping activities priority for next year (chambers, ceramic flanges) • 2D specification and manufacturing drawings EN-MME Marco Garlaschè
