MAXIMUM AMOUNTS FOR FUNDING ORGANISATIONS MAY APPLY UP TO A MAXIMUM OF: Craft and Visual Arts R10 million Performing Arts R12 million Film Production and Distribution R15 million Heritage R15 million Environment R10 million Organisations applying for more than one project must submit a detailed budget with motivation for each project.

PARTNERSHIPS • The assisting organisation can apply for a maximum of 3 assisted • organisations only. • The assisting organisation may charge a programme management fee • not exceeding 10% of the allocation of the assisted organisation. • The Distributing Agency makes the final decision during adjudication. • The assisting organisation must provide a detailed plan for mentoring • and skills transfer for the assisted organisation with the application.

DOCUMENTARIES, FEATURE FILMS, TELEVISION PRODUCTIONS • SYNOPSIS (1-2 pages) • TREATMENT *Maximum 6 pages *Indicate approximate duration for the Acts that are presented *You may provide any additional material that supports the treatment *Indicate over how many months the film or documentary will be shot • CHARACTER LIST OF THE FEATURE *Indicate main and supporting cast and extras *Budget – provide a breakdown according to the characters

CHALLENGES DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS • “NLDTF Agents” – not authorised by NLDTF • High Numbers of Incomplete and Non-Compliant applications – Partnerships as well • Repeat submissions of declines without addressing reasons provided • Sophisticated and complicated binding of applications • Submitting Progress Reports together with Applications • Last-Minute submission of applications • Incorrect Information provided to NLDTF employees during enquiries • Applicants insisting on being prioritised ahead of others

CHALLENGES DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS • High rate of declines as a result of: • Incomplete documentation • Unacceptable financial statements • Unregistered accountants / auditors • Documents not in the name of applicant • Applications falling outside the mandate of DA • Wrong sector • Non-fundable activities, projects or items • Corporate governance not strong enough • Grant Agreements not properly signed • Grant Agreements not being read/complied with

INFORMATION THAT IS NOT NECESSARY • Annual Reports • Newsletters • Photographs • Newspaper Clips • Information that is not related to what is being applied for • Too much information about the organisation and not the project *97% content should be on the project *3% content can be on the organisation • People’s CVs; Birth Certificate, Divorce and Death Notices and Certificates • Minutes and Strategic Plans – Focus on the Project that is being applied for
