  1. Problem The dramatic spread of Citrus Greening(|Huanglongbing-HLB) in Belize

  2. Explanation The Citrus Industry is one of the most significant revenue earners in the Belizean economy. With Citrus Greening( Huanglongbing-HLB) present in Belize since 2009, citrus production have decreased. This disease have caused halted movement of nursery plants. All HLB positive trees have to be removed and with the halted movement of nursery plants. Citrus Greening is present in the entire country of Belize. Belize export citrus squash to neighboring countries and with this bacteria present it is causing a decrease in in production and revenue for the country.

  3. What to do? • There are variousstepsthatcanbetaken to help preventthe spread ofCitrusGreening in Belize. • The diseasecannotbeeradicatedfromthe country butthere are certainmeasuresthatcanbetaken.

  4. What to do Testing of the citrus plants in grove as well as the backyard and eradicated positive trees.

  5. Objective The main objectives are: To identify and eradicate infected citrus trees. to conduct training to growers/stakeholders
