  12. West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation • The West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (WBIDC), incorporated in 1967 under the Companies Act, is the principal state government agency, responsible for promotion of industries and industrial infrastructure in the state.

  13. WBIDC – Responsibilities • Promotion of medium and large industries • Facilitation through Single Window Clearance System - ‘Shilpa Sathi’ • Promotion of Joint Sector & Assisted Sector Units • Development of business, trade, industrial links with domestic and foreign institutions / companies • Management and operation of State Incentive Schemes • Development and management of Industrial infrastructure • Identification of areas suitable for development as industrial zones

Industrial Parks Manikanchan -The Gems and Jewellery Park Located at Salt Lake City, Kolkata, this park is the ultimate destination for manufacturers, businessmen and entrepreneurs in the field of Gems and Jewellery. Total built up area developed is approx. 1,90,000 sq.ft., allotted to 33 companies. Shilpangan - The Light Engineering Park The Park is located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata with a built up area of approx. 2,15,000 sq. ft. for setting up light engineering units. Total 56 no. of companies have been allotted space. Paridhan - The Garment Park The Park located in Kolkata is a composite facility for garment/apparel manufacturing units catering to both domestic and export markets. Total built up area developed is approx. 6,75,000 sq.ft., allotted to 83 companies

  15. The Food Park – Phase I & II The Food Park located at Sankrail, Howrah, about 30 kms from Kolkata is a composite facility for food processing, packaging industries, cold chain, covering an area of over 102 acres in two phases. FritoLay, a division of PepsiCo India is the anchor unit in the park. Total 44 companies have been alloted land. Poly Park The Poly Park has been set up on 60 acres land at Sankrail, Howrah, adjoining to the Food Park, having 45 plastic based units. Vidyasagar Industrial Park Vidyasagar Industrial Park at Kharagpur spreads over approximately 1150 acres developed mainly for industrial manufacturing units, including their vendor parks. The project is bounded by NH6 and NH60. Telcon, a JV of Tata Motors & Hitachi is the anchor unit in the park. So far 21 companies have been allotted land in the park.

  16. Panagarh Industrial Park Connected by major National Highways, railways, proposed airport at Andal with close proximity to Durgapur Industrial Zone, this park in the district of Barddhaman is being set up on an area of approximately 1458 acres. Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited is anchor unit has almost completed its project. Plasto Steel Park Located at Barjora in Bankura district about 145 kms from Kolkata, this park is an integrated industrial park for steel and plastic industries covering an area of about 480 acres in three phases. So far 35 no. of companies have been allotted land in the park. Raghunathpur Steel and Allied Industrial Park WBIDC is setting up three Steel and Allied Industrial Parks over approx. 3260 acres of land at Raghunathpur in Purulia district well connected to NH32 & NH62A, railway head with power source of Damodar Valley Corporation.

  17. Rishi Bankim Shilpaudyan WBIDC is developing an industrial park at Naihati in North 24 Parganas district spread over an approximate area of 97 acres and about 50 kms from Kolkata. The park is well located in the vicinity of major industrial zones like Kalyani, Kanchrapara and Barrackpore. The Zari Hub Located at Sankrail, Howrah the hub has been created for Zari art to flourish in an atmosphere of better infrastructure and environment. The Hub will create world class Zari products to cater to both the domestic and international markets.

  18. Shalboni Industrial Park Located at Shalboni on NH-60, the park is being set up over 4472 acres of land for manufacturing of Iron & Steel at Paschim Medinipur district. Haldia Port just 110 kms from the park. JSW Bengal Steel is the anchor unit has submitted revised proposal for setting up 660 X 1 MW capacity power plant. Godapiasal Industrial Park Located 11 kms north of Paschim Medinipur, this park is being developed over 153 acres of land by WBIDC for the cement industry. Orissa Cement Ltd., one of the largest & well- equipped state- of- the- art refractory plant in India is setting up a cement grinding plant with a capacity of 1.35 MTPA in the park.

  19. Nayachar Project • Nayachar Project at Nayachar Island at Haldia will be developed by New Kolkata International Development Private Limited (NKID). Main components of the project are – • Power Plant of capacity 3 X 660 MW with investment of Rs.12,000/- crores over area of approx..1028 acres of land. • Industrial Park over approximately 3648 acres of land with investment of approx. Rs.4982.80 crores • Eco-Tourism Park over 7250 acres of land with project cost of approx.. Rs.268 crores

  20. Rubber Park This park at Sankrail, Howrah is being developed by South Asia Rubber & Polymer Park (SARPOL) with assistance of WBIDC on an area of about 110.28 acres where about 200 units are expected to come up for manufacturing rubber sheets, footwear, rubber hoses, tubes, micro cellular sheets, automotive rubber products. Foundry Park This park at Ranihati, Howrah is being developed by Foundry Cluster Development Association (FCDA) with assistance of WBIDC over an area of 924 acres (approx.). There may be a scope of 20,000 direct employment when the first phase (600 acres) will be fully operational.

  21. Upcoming Industrial Parks Food Park Phase –III The Food Park, Phase-III is being developed over approx..34.59 acres of land, adjoining to existing Food Park and Poly Park at Sankrail, Howrah. Marketing of the plots is in progress. Gems & Jewellery Park Gems & Jewellery Park has been proposed at Aankurhati, Domjur, Howrah over approximately 6.93 acres of land. DPR has been prepared. Advertisement has been published for inviting EOI. Goaltore Industrial Park The Park has been proposed at Goaltore, Pashchim Medinipur district over approx..950 acres of land. Transfer of Land from Agricultural Department is in process. Consultant has been engaged for preparation of detailed project report/master plan.

  22. Haldia Industrial Park Haldia Industrial Park has been proposed over approx..306 acres of land at Haldia. Proposal has been submitted for transfer of some vested land lying within the land, to make it contiguous. Engagement of consultant for preparation of DPR is in process. Garment Park, Budge Budge Garment Park has been proposed over approx..9.5 acres of land of WBPAPL at Budge Budge. Process of engagement of a Consultant for detailed survey of demand and preparation of detailed project report (DPR) has been started.

  23. EMERGING INITIATIVES Shilpa Sathi: A Single Window Cell comprising of representatives of various Departments/Directorates of Government, is functioning at WBIDC’s office building. It aims at expeditious disposal of matters relating to clearances of different Government Departments/Directorate for setting up of industrial units in the State. In order to strengthen the initiatives, a Task Force in Shilpa Sathi has recently been constituted with following Departments :- 1. Department of Fire & Emergency Services 2. Department of Land & Land Reforms 3. Department of Environment, WBPCB 4. Department of Finance 5. Department of Irrigation 6. Department of Power Task Force is meeting every day to expedite the project clearances.

  24. Core Committee: In order to facilitate interaction and speed up industrialization process to create conducive environment for investment, WB Government has formed a core committee on industry chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister and comprising ministers, government representatives and Chamber of Commerce.
