The Three Categories of Gifts Manifestation – 11 Gifts - I Corinthians 12:7 – 10 Ministry – 5 Gifts - Eph. 4:11-13 Motivational – 7 Gifts - Romans 12:6 – 8 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Make good public speakers. Often speaking is a part of their service to the body. Not natural communicators. Some will train themselves to be good speakers. Frequently say things which are confusing or misleading. When in a leadership role, will want to think through communication carefully and may want to write out important messages in order to add clarity.

  10. Key Questions to Identify the Perceiver • Do you hate insincerity? • Is repentance important to you? • Do you have strong opinions about most things. • Are you willing to intercede for others? • Do you see things as black and white – no gray areas?

Key Questions to Identify the Researcher • Do you value truth and hate lies? • Are you non-emotional, rational? • Do you enjoy reading and research? • Are you a trivia buff? • Are you upset when scripture is taken out of context? • Do you check out the credentials of others who teach or preach?

Key Questions to Identify the Administrator • Do you wait for those in authority to ask you to do things, and then delight in heading up complex projects? • When rearranging a room, do you see the entire plan in your head, or do you need to move one piece at a time, and plan as you go? • Would you rather do a task or delegate it to others? • Do you enjoy giving others the credit? • Do you hate disloyalty?

Key Questions to Identify the Exhorter • Do you value wisdom and constantly look for ways to make practical application of truth? • Do you prefer working with people rather than working with equipment, or data, or things? • Do you have to look in the face of those you’re talking with? • Do you like to tell personal stories to make a point? • Will you bend a scripture (or a truth) a bit to make an important point? • Do you like counseling and coaching others?

Key Questions to Identify the Server • Do you enjoy manual projects, working with your hands? • Do you have a good memory for small details? • Do you show love by deeds rather than by words? • Do you abhor being around clutter? • Do you feel lost if you don’t have clear direction and approval?

Key Questions to Identify the Giver • Do you give of your time and money freely? • Do you fully believe that all material resources come from God, and He will supply those who give to others? • Do you want your gifts to be of high quality, meeting a specific, private need? • Do you love to give without others knowing about it? (Tend to be secretive?) • Do you enjoy bargain hunting? • Do you possess natural business ability? Are you industrious?

  34. Scripture for the Giver Jesus speaking . . . But when you give to the needy do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret, then your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:3

  38. Key Questions to Identify the Mercy • Do you get your feelings hurt easily? • Are you drawn to others who are hurting? • Do you strongly defend the wounded? • Do you tend to find the good in others? • Do you dislike administering discipline?

  40. Questions The reasons for studying motivational gifts are: • To promote unity in the Body of Christ • To build up the Body of Christ • To prepare God’s people for works of service • To decrease judgmentalism and criticism in the body • All of the above

A person working in his gift will gain personal prosperity and achievement. A person will be energized and motivated while working within his gift, avoiding fatigue or burnout. True False

Certain gifts are required to be a preacher, elder or deacon in the church. Those having non-verbal gifts are to remain silent in the church. The more sensitive we become to the other gifts the more threatened we will feel. When we understanding gifts we are more forgiving and less critical of others.
