  1. Chapter 2 Vocabulary • Monomial – a number, a variable, or the product of a number and variable(s) with whole number exponents (one term). • Polynomial – a monomial or sum of monomials • Degree of Polynomial – greatest exponent (degree) of its terms • Binomial – polynomial with two terms • Trinomial – polynomial with three terms • Leading Coefficient – when polynomial is written with highest degree to lowest degree, it is the coefficient of the first term

  2. Try: Classify the following polynomials 1. 5x3 – 9 2. 7m2 – 4m + 20 3. 12a6

  3. ***Rewrite Polynomial so that terms are arranged with greatest exponents to lowest. Identify the degree of the polynomial and the leading coefficient. Polynomial should be written as: Leading Coefficient is 13 and degree of polynomial is 5.

  4. Adding Polynomials: Combine like terms

  5. Subtracting Polynomials: Remember to distribute negative sign!!!
