Overview • RerumNovarum(1891); Faith in the City(1985)and twenty-first century Catholicism in Canning Town; • Research base: pilot project (funded by the British Academy) focused on St Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, East Ham and St Margaret’s Catholic Church, Canning Town; • Extended through the Oxford Diaspora Programme: http://www.migration.ox.ac.uk/odp/religion-separation-exclusion.shtml • Two case studies: devotional life and communitarian politics.
