  3. Beginning • First thing to do is to open Microsoft PowerPoint • Next is choosing a theme

  4. Toolbar • Navigating the toolbar again this section is the same as Microsoft word and called the ribbon • Top tabs:

  5. Choices • Try and make the theme fit the topic of your presentation

  6. Themes • You have a themes tab, again this brings up choices • Right click the theme if you want it for that tile/slide • It is advised to use the same theme through out a professional presentation

  7. Design • Colour, fonts and effects • Hovering over the themes will change the colour selections

  8. Work Area • Your work area is below the ribbon Notes go here but not seen when PowerPoint is displayed

  9. Navigation Area • The side bar of the work area is the navigation bar • Slide view • Outline view

  10. New Slide • Adding a new slide, insert tab new slide • Or right click tile and select new slide • Or ctrl: N • Or the new slide button

  11. Layout • The New Slide Button has a drop down to Layouts If you want the same slide simply press new slide and it will default as the same existing slide layout

  12. Layout • Right click on the slide and layout will appear

  13. Media • Adding media Graphs Table Excel sheets Movie file pictures Clip art browser

  14. Tables • Adding tables is similar to the Microsoft Word application or by using the symbols provided

  15. Tables • Example of tables by hovering over the tables they change until you choose one by clicking on the tab you want

  16. Tables • Banded rows are rows that are alternately coloured

  17. Tables • Highlighting a column can help with selecting a different colour shading

  19. Pictures • Inserting pictures • This icon takes you to the picture library

  24. View • Go to the view tab and select slide sorter. The slide sorter lets you look at the slides and determine the right sequence positions.

  25. Transition's • Transitions • Hovering over the effects will show on your PowerPoint • More a fun aspect to PowerPoint not commonly used in professional power points

View • Going to the view tab you can select tiles and preview all the stages of the PowerPoint and its transitioning • Selecting tiles can be done by going to the home tab and picking the selection you want Holding your left mouse button and dragging over the slides will select the tiles as well

  27. Transition's • Adding transition's (vortex) • Adding sounds (drum roll)

  29. Transition's • Transition's will come up with numbering on the side of the sentences this is ;the order of the transition

  30. Animations • Adding animations • This sentence will do this (grow) • This sentence will do this (dissolve in) • This sentence will do this (blinds) • The animation is a picture with the background removed and a path attached to it

  31. Finish • Applying the best way to show the PowerPoint is personal one • Individuals may like the timing view but most candidates like the on click view.

  32. Saving • Saving your files during your work is important if your computer crashes or stops unexpectedly • Shortcut – ctrl s Desitnation File, Save as File name
