  28. Principal Comments The most recent focus has been surrounding the MCA’s and transference of skills. Pearson’s website is being accessed by tested grades and some of the “prep” has begun to familiarize students with the new format. (Creating another lab for testing and a schedule has been created.) Mapping of standards not secure continues to be evident in planning and continued discussions of strategies and grouping are really a theme for grade levels as shown by PLC sharing and ATPPS after school work time. Writing more and “stretching” thinking through questioning and discussion is also evident and nice to see in classrooms and in teacher conversations. More non-fiction reading and application of taught strategies is recurring as a result of common core standards and earlier presentations by both Kari Ross and Cheryl Nash. This was a topic in a PLC I personally attended. Community Leaders are Sibley Readers – March 2nd was a hit and coordinated by Reading Corps and our media staff. Excited to host an ITV by The Cowles Center for the Performing Arts http://www.thecowlescenter.org/ on 3/29 and 4/1 (Middle Eastern Dance), 4/18-4/20 (Latin Dance), and 5/9 – 5/13 (Jazz Dance).
